Connecting Your Propane Cylinder
Connecting your propane cylinder to a propane powered appliance like a grill is simple and safe when you follow our guidelines! Once you’ve safely transported your cylinder home, you should read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to connect your propane cylinder to your appliance. After reading the instructions, here are some helpful tips to make connecting the cylinder simple and safe:
Before Connecting:
Inspect the cylinder for leaks and/or damage
Ensure the regulator vent is not pointing in an upright position
Make sure all appliance valves are in the off position
Connecting:
Attach Appliance Connector to Cylinder Valve
For connector A, turn counterclockwise. Tighten with wrench.
For connector B, turn clockwise. Tighten by hand.
After Connecting:
Once your propane cylinder is connected to your appliance, you need to test for leaks with the connections before using. To test for leaks, open the cylinder valve hand wheel. Apply soapy
water around all valve connections. If bubbles appear in any area, a leak is present, and you need to close the cylinder valve handwheel immediately. Undo all valve connections and then reconnect them following the above instructions. Test for leaks again. Once you have tested for leaks and no bubbles have appeared, it is safe to use your propane appliance. You may light your appliance in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. When finished using the appliance, make sure to close the cylinder valve handwheel.
